Looking To Sea is a dedication to Adventure, Education, and Responsibility.

Ecotourism done right—where education and conservation are central—is a powerful force for change.

From the moment I could speak, 'Just looking to see' was my response to 'Joel!! where are you?'. This prompted my family to run and supervise, as I was often atop a fridge, a tree, a roof or somewhere with a view. My curiosity and sense of adventure has only grown since then, but honed in a way that serves my community and our environment.

Looking To Sea is here for the accessible family tour/rental, the full day adventure seekers, and those looking to build their sea kayaking skills through a certified Paddle Canada course.

 

I have been all of the following but not limited to:

 Australian tour bus driver and scuba diver, Current Paddle Canada

Sea Kayak Guide and Instructor, Canadian Nordic Cross Country Ski Instructor, Child and Youth Camp Facilitator and Program Director, Backcountry Camping Guide, Paddle Canada Big Canoe Guide/Instructor, Alpine Snowshoe and Hiking guide, Lead  Forest School Facilitator (ages 3-5), and an Interpretive Guide in the National Parks.  

 

Looking To Sea Retreats LTD. is the culmination of a life in the outdoors from the mountain tops to the sea floor, a university education in Ecotourism and Outdoor Leadership and decades in the field. Having seen first hand the damage that tourism does across the globe, I've dedicated my life to the values of Ecotourism, and to serving my Community.

Ecotourism is defined as “responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment, sustains the well-being of the local people, and involves interpretation and education” (TIES, 2015). ​
